GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete range of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles, including lower-floor and high-floor models. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship vehicle, and it is able to be adapted to suit a wide range of applications. The platform's design is based on a clean paper sheet, which allows for the best placement of the battery and a lower center of gravity. This results in higher payload/range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries and catering applications. The class 4 refrigerated truck's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation levels compared to traditional trucks allow for seamless sanitation, better temperature control, and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior cargo capacity and an industry-leading payload to allow for zero emission freight or passenger transport.
GreenPower has collaborated with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system, which will allow fleets to seamlessly transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able to support wireless charging at 75 kW.
We had the opportunity to test drive the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway and found it easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can block wind and road noise while driving on the highway. It rides smoothly over bumps and ruts. The car's acceleration is surprisingly fast, and it comes with adjustable regenerative brakes that allow "one-pedal driving" simply by lifting off the accelerator.
The EV9 has excellent range and can be fully charged in about three hours at home, or with any commercial charger. The driver can choose from two operating modes - eco mode and sport mode. power mobility focuses on the torque, cruise control and handling while sport mode maximizes speed. Both modes are enjoyable to drive and provide an unforgettable experience for those who have never driven an electrical vehicle before.
GreenPower offers several other eVehicles which include a multi-purpose electric minibus, called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be used as an executive shuttle, transit or micro-transit vanpool, bus or a paratransit vehicle.
GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star buses per month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the needs of the Biden Administration, which is looking to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA compliant. They will be eligible for federal transit grants. Stay tuned for updates as we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later in the year. We will share more details about this revolutionary EV.
